Product Overview

Applying significant pressure to sandstone results in the formation of quartzite. The compaction of sandstone's sturdy silicate framework makes quartzite one of the most durable rocks on the planet. Ideal for identification & classification exercises. Because of its durable nature, quartzite is often used in paleoclimate studies to measure the extent and timing of glaciation. While each specimen will vary slightly in shape, size and color, it will measure approximately 3" in length. Specimen is packaged in a transparent bag that is labeled & barcoded for easy identification and storage.
