Product Overview
EMB (Levine) agar, designed to select for gram-negative bacteria and differentiate between lactose-fermenting and non-fermenting species. This medium exclusively supports the growth of gram-negative bacteria. Lactose-fermenting bacteria will produce colored colonies, while non-lactose fermenters will form colorless colonies. E. coli colonies are noted for their distinctive green sheen, aiding in identification.
It comes premixed and prepared in a narrow-mouth bottle for easy, mess-free pouring and convenient storage. Simply heat the bottle until the medium is fully liquefied, then pour it into petri dishes or culture tubes. Allow the medium to cool and solidify.
