Product Overview
This Styrofoam cup calorimeter provides an economical and effective means of performing basic calorimetry experiments, commonly referred to as “coffee-cup” calorimetry. Designed for introductory thermochemistry, the insulated cup minimizes heat loss so students can accurately measure temperature changes in solution-based reactions.
The calorimeter includes a slotted insulating lid that allows a thermometer to be inserted without exposing the system to surrounding air, preserving thermal integrity during measurements. Total capacity is 230 ml, though for most experiments a fill volume of no more than half capacity is recommended to maintain stability and ensure consistent results.
This simple, reliable setup is ideal for measuring heat of reaction, specific heat, and other fundamental energy-transfer concepts in classroom and laboratory settings.
