This Volta Pile Apparatus is a fully functioning replica of Allesandro Volta's apparatus. The item is approximately 7 inches tall including the base. The base is a 3.5" square with a height of 1.5". 1.5 inch zinc and copper plates are stacked in alternation and are separated by a sheet of felt soaked in an electrolyte. The electrolyte allows electricity to pass between layers, allowing the voltage to be measured between the plates and at ends. The cable on the base is 5.75 inches long and reaches the top of the item.
