To construct both open and compact three-dimensional models of organic molecules and many inorganic molecules. Models are easily assembled and will not fall apart during use.
Molded plastic atom-parts are color coded, and strongly suggest the real properties of the molecules depicted. Valence is represented by the number of holes: 1-hole (l); 2-hole (ll); 3-hole (lll); 4-hole (lV); 5-hole (V); 6-hole (Vl). Each set contains 78 atoms: 30 hydrogen (I), 23 carbon (II, III, IV), 6 oxygen (II), 7 nitrogen (III, IV), 6 chlorine (I), 2 bromine (I), 2 sulfur (IV, VI), 1 phosphorus (V), and 1 metal (I).
Bonds: Single bonds are represented by grey, medium links (27 mm, 50 pcs) and multiple bonds by purple, flexible links (43 mm, 18 pcs). Also included are transparent, extra long links (62 mm, 6 pcs). Because of the flexible design of the covalent electron bonds, construction of double and triple bonds is easily performed. For compact models, single bonds are represented by transparent, short links (10 mm, 30 pcs) and multiple bonds by grey, short links (12 mm, 6 pcs). To make more complex molecules, two or more sets may be combined.
The catalogue No. P-582075 Model Kit additionally includes 18 lone electron pair 2D paddles (6 pink, 6 purple, 6 beige) for better understanding of molecular geometries (VSEPR Theory, etc.). Examples of the use of these are included in the product photos.
