To demonstrate the discovery made by Newton that white light is composed of seven colors. Consisting of a pulley mounted on a metal stand, the seven colored disc is driven by gears connected to a hand driven wheel. When the colored disc rotates, the eye can't distinguish between individual colors and perceives it as white color.
