Delivery & Returns

We offer FREE GROUND SHIPPING on orders over $249 (before taxes) to most locations within the provinces in Canada*. We reserve the right to determine the method used to fulfill your order. Bulky goods—products that are considered "bulky" in their packaging or weigh more than 15kg—will incur an additional bulky goods surcharge. Additionally, remote delivery locations within Canada may be subject to extended area surcharges, which will be added to your final invoice.

*NOTE: We have temporarily suspended shipments to Quebec due to Bill 96, which requires French language support across all sales and marketing touch points.
We are working to comply with the provisions of this law so we can resume shipments to Quebec as soon as possible.
 

Orders shipping to the four Atlantic provinces—Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador—along with the three territories—NT, NU, and YT—will not be eligible for the free shipping promotion. Full shipping costs, as determined by the carrier, will apply to these locations due to the significant distance from our warehouse in Edmonton, AB.

Only one shipment per order qualifies for this promotion. If a customer elects to have backordered items shipped separately as they become available and does not wish to wait for a consolidated delivery of all items in one complete shipment, all subsequent shipments after the first free delivery will be charged at actual shipping cost.

Please review the following important information regarding shipping charges, delivery options, and our policies related to insurance and lead times. These terms apply to all orders placed with Sciedco Labs.

  • Actual shipping charges will not appear during online checkout; estimated shipping will appear on order acknowledgement (Sales Order) and final shipping will appear on Invoice document.
  • Your shipment is not insured by Sciedco Labs. if you would like to add Courier Insurance, please Contact Us to request a quote. 
  • Free delivery does not apply to products marked down at special prices that offer a substantial discount such as closeout/final sale or clearance items.
  • Free delivery applies only to courier shipments and does not extend to truck freight.
  • We will consult with the manufacturer if you are concerned about the lead time or would like to know the expected timeline. Sciedco Labs is not responsible for late shipments from manufacturers or their warehouses.

Chemical & Hazardous Shipping Fee

A minimum fee of $9.95 will apply to any order containing an item classified as hazardous. This fee helps cover the cost of specialized materials required to safely pack and ship hazardous items, including UN-specification packaging, poly liners, vermiculite absorbent, and other necessary packaging to ensure compliance with safety regulations and safe transport.

Orders for chemicals and hazardous materials are only accepted from industrial/commercial facilities, educational institutions and research labs; we do not ship chemicals to private residences. Products requiring additional shipping fees for hazardous materials are clearly marked "DG APPLICABLE" on sciedco.ca product listings.

Order Cancellation

To cancel an order, please Contact Us with your Sales Order number and the details of the item(s) you wish to cancel. We will do our best to process your cancellation as long as the order has not yet shipped from our manufacturer. If your cancellation request is received after the order has been shipped from manufacturer's warehouse, we will issue a refund for the merchandise total, minus shipping charges and any applicable restocking fees from the manufacturer.

Returns

All returns must be authorized by Sciedco Labs and you must receive a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number in which Sciedco has the sole discretion to accept or refuse any such request.

A minimum default restocking charge of 20% will apply on all items approved for return. This fee helps cover the cost of return shipping to the manufacturers' warehouses, as well as the labor and packaging involved in processing the return. If the manufacturers impose higher restocking fees, those fees will apply instead, should they exceed our standard 20% charge.

The following RMA conditions must be met and failure to do so could result in the refusal of a shipment received by Sciedco Labs:

  • You must Contact Us within 10 business days of receiving your order to request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and return instructions.
  • Merchandise must be returned to Sciedco Labs' location within 10 business days after receipt of a RMA number. The RMA number and invoice number must be identified on the return address label.
  • The returned quantity must correspond to the standard manufacturer quantity of the original packaging.
  • Goods must be returned in their original packaging, arrive undamaged and in resalable form.
  • You are responsible for bearing the cost of return shipping to Sciedco Labs' location (unless the return is a result of an error on our end, in which case we will provide prepaid shipping labels). COD shipments will be refused.
  • Refunds are for merchandise only. Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable.
  • Sciedco reserves the right to deny or reject return shipments for any Returns or Claims if the above conditions are not met.

Products not authorized for return:

  • Closeout/final sale and Clearance items.
  • Products that are not in fully resalable condition, including opened items, sampled products, or those with damaged, missing, or defaced labels or packaging.
  • Chemicals, reagents, microbiological media, sterile products, or controlled items.
  • Laboratory equipment or instruments that have been used or lack the original packaging, labeling, and manuals.
  • Special-ordered products or Custom items.
  • Items provided under terms specifying they are non-returnable.

Damaged-in-Transit Merchandise

While we take great care in packing your order so that it will arrive in excellent condition, unintentional damage may occur during carrier transit. If your order is damaged when it arrives, please keep the original box, the products, and the packing material, and Contact Us within 2 business days of receiving the merchandise.

Goods damaged in transit must be identified and signed as damaged by the receiver and the carrier at the time of receipt of the goods in order to request an RMA number from Sciedco for damaged goods. Please note, you must get the carrier to sign and acknowledge that the goods are damaged.

We will ask you to provide pictures of the damaged products, the original box, and the packing material via email to sales@sciedco.ca, along with your Sales Order number, name, and email address. This evidence will help us to quickly submit a claim on your behalf to the carrier for their investigation so that we can get replacement items on their way to you. As the company who drops off the items with the carrier, we are responsible for submitting claims. However, Sciedco Labs is not liable for any damage or loss that occurs while items are in possession of the carrier. Delivery service is solely the responsibility of the carrier. Claim amounts paid to the recipient are at the discretion of the carrier's claims department.

Defective Merchandise 

If you receive a defective item, you must Contact Us within 14 days of receipt, providing your Sales Order number to request an RMA for a replacement. We will issue a prepaid shipping label for the return of the defective item before processing the replacement shipment.

To ensure fair use of our defective item return policy, all claims will be thoroughly reviewed. Items that have been intentionally damaged or altered will not be eligible for return or replacement. If a return is requested for a defective item, we may ask for photos or other supporting evidence to verify the issue before issuing a return authorization (RMA). Please note, returns based on dissatisfaction or a change of mind will not be accepted under this policy.
