Product Overview

Constant Velocity Car

This battery powered car moves with constant speed in a straight line. It has been designed specifically for use in the physics classroom (i.e. this is not just a toy car). The car can be set to travel at two different speeds selectable by a labeled switch on the body. Both speeds can be easily timed with a stopwatch. The wheels on this car are machined to run a straight, even line. There's a central compartment for placement of objects, such as 50-g hooked weights.
The car's dimensions are 145 x 69 x 57 mm. Weight: 150 g. Runs on 1 AA battery, NOT included.

Fan Car

When the sail is not in place, this propeller driven car demonstrates uniform acceleration independent of gravity. Car is supplied with a plastic sail which may be mounted at any angle between 0° and 90° to the air stream, for use in demonstrations of Newton’s third law or of force vectors. You need four 1.5 V size AA batteries.

Ballistics Car

Provides a most effective demonstration showing that the forward component of velocity of a ball shot vertically from a moving car is the same as that of the car. The car with ball-bearing wheels carries a vertical, cylindrical socket in which a steel ball is placed resting on a spring-activated plunger. A pin will release the compressed spring when the car is pushed forward, shooting the ball into the air. The ball falls back into the car regardless of the velocity of the car because of the equal forward velocity imparted to the ball before being shot upward. Dimensions (w × d × h): 250 × 110 × 170 mm. Includes 2 steel balls and release pin with string.
