Product Overview
Used to study the path of a projectile by plotting the trajectory of a steel ball launched from a track. In use, the ball is rolled down the track and allowed to impact with a target plate at the same time striking a sheet of carbon paper held to metal backboard by magnets. The strike mark is transferred to the background graph paper. The target plate then is moved to a new position and the steel ball is launched again. This procedure is repeated multiple times until the parabolic trajectory of the ball is plotted. The resulting plot can be studied qualitatively or analyzed quantitatively.
Rugged, all-metal construction apparatus consists of a base with leveling feet and two bubble levels, backboard with X and Y scale markings, adjustable launch track, and movable target plate. The track may be positioned for either horizontal launches or for launching a ball at an angle to the horizontal. Supplied with 2 steel balls, 10 sheets of carbon paper, 10 sheets of graph paper, and 2 magnets for holding the paper sheets to metal backboard.
