For visualizing the electrostatic lines of force due to various electrode configurations. The apparatus comprises a 90 mm dia. Petri dish and a transparent rectangular base carrying a pair of 4 mm socket terminals that can also hold adjustable electrodes. Fill the dish with mineral oil and mount your choice of electrodes just beneath the surface. With the electrodes connected to an electrostatic machine or to an induction coil, sprinkle chopped hair, semolina, or fine grass seed (NOT included) on the surface. The particles fall oriented along the lines of force giving a clear representation of the electrostatic field. Comes with three sets of electrodes: two parallel electrodes simulating capacitor plates, two point charges, and two round field electrodes.
