The set is a student version of the catalog Item No. G-614800 designed to be used in group experiments on electromagnetic induction effects. It is a strong and high-quality pair of coils such that the small coil of about 200 turns of heavy wire fits inside the larger coil of about 400 turns of finer wire. A removable soft iron core is included to show its effect on the current in the secondary coil. Both coils are wound on insulated plastic spools and fitted with 4 mm terminals for use with standard spade connectors or alligator clips.
Demonstrations include a magnetic field of one coil inducing a voltage and current in the other coil, the effect of iron core in a magnetic circuit, the concept of a transformer, making electromagnets and more.
