A rugged electroscope excellent for demonstrations. The ultra-sensitive aluminum needle about 150 mm long pivots on an axle in a vertical position on a metal support rod which is insulated from the electroscope case by a plastic sleeve. The metal case tends to eliminate the unwanted deflections sometimes caused by charges residing on glass or plastic walls. The front and rear sides of the electroscope housing are of glass 170 mm in diameter to give good visibility and provide for shadow protection. The front glass window is transparent, and the back is frosted and has a scale printed on it to measure the angle of the deflection. Sold as a package of 2.
