Demonstration apparatus with a movable friction surface for measuring static and dynamic friction between two surfaces as a function of area, force between the surfaces and smoothness of the surfaces. The apparatus is operated by hand; the continuous movable belt is pulled at constant speed from under a static friction block connected to a load cell which converts force into a measurable electrical output. Two LED displays show instantaneous and maximum friction force values. The friction block milled from solid aluminum bar stock presents two different surface areas and two types of surface textures. There’s a recess in the block for placement of objects, such as hooked weights. The apparatus dimensions (w × d × h): 350 × 185 × 150 mm.
