Product Overview
Students can build their own eight rung ladder segment of the DNA molecule. Two helix models—consisting of 4 adenine, 4 cytosine, 4 guanine, and 4 thymine bases; 16 deoxyribose sugars; and 16 phosphate groups—are built with each kit. The components made of color-coded plastic are simply assembled or disassembled, and the model is flexible and can be twisted to form the double helix structure. The helix model can be unzipped permitting the students to replicate their DNA segment. The individual 8 model segments can be attached together to form a giant double helix model of any length. All components are reusable, and the kit is designed to be used by 2 students individually or by 2 teams. Each kit includes a total of 96 plastic pieces supplied in a transparent plastic storage box with hinged lid.
