Product Overview

The purpose of this activity is to become acquainted with the origin, texture, composition and inter-relationships of igneous rocks. This is accomplished by providing a key to the systematic arrangement of the igneous rocks and graphically displaying these properties. Igneous rock specimens are mounted on this 18" x 24" color chart that comes complete with a wood frame. Student charts 8-1/2" x 11". Grades 7+, Ages 12+.

These hands-on projects enable students to examine and identify individual rock and mineral specimens as a study unit in Earth Science. Each classroom activity project includes: 18" x 24" wood framed reference chart, complete with mounted specimens; 30 student charts on heavy card stock (reproductions of the reference chart); 30 specimens of each rock and mineral represented — to be studied and glued on each chart during the activity; one test kit including streak plate, glass plate, hand lens, magnet, dropper bottle, nail, penny, hardness scale and the Scott Resources’ Rocks and Minerals Study Guide. Many of these activities and charts are suitable for college use.
