Shows total internal reflection and its applications (fiber optics). When light is directed into the polished bottom end, the rays undergo multiple internal reflection through all the turns of the coil, finally emerging from the other end. Rod is made of best quality Lucite® acrylic, wraps in two circles and measures 16" long. Recommended use with a red or green laser pointer.
The lumirod may be purchased alone or as a set with the red laser pointer, see the purchase options displayed above. The laser is a good quality handheld pointer with a stainless steel outer shell, 650 nm (red), <5 mW output. Included (not installed) are three LR41 lithium batteries.
