Product Overview
This device is a convenient, clean, and safe way to visualize magnetic lines of force that are generated about current-carrying conductors. Set consists of three different shaped coils passing through transparent base plates filled with silicone oil and high quality iron filings freely suspended inside. Each configuration is provided with a pair of sockets to connect them to a low voltage DC power source. When current is introduced into the coil, the iron filings floating in the oil will align along the lines of force and give a picture of the magnetic field. The viscous oil holds the filings in place for a while after the current is removed, making observation easier.
