Product Overview
For observing the magnetic effects of a current flowing in a wire. Through using this apparatus students will understand the relationship between current electricity and magnetism. A 12-cm long magnetic needle of flat steel, with N-pole indicated in blue, is mounted on a steel pivot with brass cup bearing at the center of a heavy wire frame. The apparatus is arranged so that current can be passed above and below needle in the same or opposite directions. The position the needle takes will depend upon lines of force, the earth’s magnetism, and the direction of the current. For use with a low voltage power supply.
