Attribute Blocks
Attribute Blocks sets feature five fundamental shapes—circle, square, rectangle, triangle, and hexagon—that vary across multiple characteristics. These shapes are presented in three distinct colors, two sizes, and two levels of thickness. Attribute Blocks serve as an excellent resource for introducing concepts such as sorting, recognizing patterns, and identifying and classifying attributes. Each complete set includes 60 blocks in red, yellow, and blue, with each color represented across the five shapes in both large and small sizes, as well as thick and thin versions.
Working With Attribute Blocks:
Give each student group a full set of Attribute Blocks. Invite students to explore the pieces and describe their features. Guide them in identifying similarities and differences among the blocks, prompting detailed observations related to shape, size, color, and thickness. Emphasize the use of precise, mathematically accurate vocabulary as students articulate their observations. These blocks encourage the development of critical thinking and classification skills through hands-on interaction.
