Product Overview
The Wilson Cloud Chamber is a classic demonstration apparatus for visualizing the paths of alpha particles. It operates by saturating air with alcohol vapor and using a hand-operated vacuum pump to create a partial vacuum. This causes supersaturation of the vapor, enabling ionized particle paths to become visible as fine condensation trails.
When an alpha-emitting pin source is inserted into the chamber, the emitted particles ionize the surrounding air. Alcohol vapor condenses along these ionized tracks, forming tiny foggy streaks—direct evidence of atomic particles in motion.
