Product Overview
Demonstrates adiabatic cooling. A few drops of a volatile substance such as methyl alcohol are introduced and distributed in the chamber and the stopper is inserted. The chamber then is pressurized with the included pump until the stopper pops out. When this happens, heavy fog condenses in the chamber. This is because the air is cooling as the pressure decreases. The fog can be easily seen by an entire class thanks to the black background plate.
This is often used in combination with the catalog Item No. G-692000 Fire Syringe which demonstrates how the heat is generated by the compression of air.
