Product Overview
MacConkey Agar, specifically formulated to select for gram-negative bacteria and differentiate between lactose-fermenting and non-fermenting species. Only gram-negative bacteria will grow on this medium. Lactose-fermenting bacteria produce pink colonies, while non-lactose fermenters yield colorless colonies.
It comes premixed and prepared in a narrow-mouth bottle for easy, mess-free pouring and convenient storage. Simply heat the bottle until the medium is fully liquefied, then pour it into petri dishes or culture tubes. Allow the medium to cool and solidify.
