This unit is an excellent alternative to the higher priced resistance substitution boxes and the performance is the same for middle and high school use. Four rotary switches (with positive click stop) mounted in a single housing to select the desired value of resistance as indicated alongside index mark on the knobs. Resistance resolution is at 1, 10, 100, and 1000 Ohms. Two 5-way binding posts are provided for easy connections. For use in in extra-low voltage circuits.
It is important to set the resistance high enough to maintain a power output that is less than 1 W. Too much current could melt part of the box start a fire. Economically priced, these resistance boxes are not protected against significant overload.
