Product Overview
Convection currents produced by a candle may be simply demonstrated with this apparatus. Popular with teachers and students alike, this experiment is also known under the name “convection pinwheel” or “candle-powered pinwheel.” Consists of a chimney, dimensions (h × d): 110 × 51 mm, base (h × d): 25 × 63 mm, metal pinwheel assembly, and a candle. When a lighted candle is under the chimney, the pinwheel will spin fast, and the convection current will be clearly apparent.
Important: Position the candle so that the flame does not come in contact with the base or the chimney. Operate for a short time only. Never leave unattended. The metal pinwheel will be very hot after the experiment.
